This Privacy Policy describes how Protein Penguin ("the App"), developed by Sonny Huynh and published by Sonny Ideas LLC, handles your information. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

Data Storage

All data you create in Protein Penguin - including your protein logs, goals, presets, and Pip customization - is stored locally on your device. We do not operate cloud servers, and your personal data is never uploaded, synced, or stored remotely by us.

Data We Do Not Collect

  • We do not collect personal information or create user accounts.
  • We do not use analytics, crash reporting, or tracking tools.
  • We do not collect your email address, name, or location.
  • We do not use advertising SDKs or share data with advertisers.
  • NSPrivacyTracking is set to false - we do not track you.

Network Requests

The only network request the App makes is when you use the barcode scanner. When you scan a barcode, the barcode number is sent to the OpenFoodFacts public API (https://world.openfoodfacts.org) to look up nutritional information. Only the barcode number is transmitted - no personal data, device identifiers, or other information is included in this request.

Camera Usage

The App requests camera access solely for barcode scanning functionality. Camera data is processed on-device in real time to detect barcodes. No images or video are stored, recorded, or transmitted.

Apple HealthKit

If you grant permission, the App integrates with Apple HealthKit to:

  • Read body weight to suggest a personalized protein goal.
  • Read protein entries logged by other apps for a unified view.
  • Write protein entries you log in the App.
  • Write weight entries (Pro feature only).

HealthKit data never leaves your device. It is not transmitted to any server, including ours. Apple's HealthKit framework enforces strict privacy controls, and we fully comply with Apple's HealthKit usage guidelines.

Notifications

The App may send local notifications for daily reminders you configure. These notifications are scheduled entirely on your device. We do not use push notification servers, and no data is transmitted to enable notifications.

In-App Purchases

Protein Penguin offers optional Pro features via in-app purchase. Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit 2. We do not receive, process, or store any payment information such as credit card numbers or billing addresses.

Data Deletion

You can delete all of your data at any time by navigating to Settings > Data > Delete All Data within the App. This permanently removes all locally stored information. Since we do not store data on servers, there is no remote data to delete.

Children's Privacy

Protein Penguin is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. Since the App does not collect any personal data from any user, there is no risk of children's data being gathered.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
